Over Peover Cricket Club hosted 3 events to celebrate the Clubs 75th Anniversary.
The cricketing highlight was playing a team of former Internationals ‘Lashings World XI’ played Over Peover in a 20 over game. With 500 spectators cheering on the home side, they came close but just fell short in a run chase.
Lashings scored 165-5 from there 20 overs with former Indian Opener Wasim Jaffer getting 35, England internationals Usman Afzaal and Samit Patel making 47 and 28 respectively before being pinned back by the Peover attack of Joe Mitchell, Max Nightingale, Rob Jones, Dave Letven and Mark Nightingale.
In response Peover made it to 152-6 with Peover Man of Match Aiden Anthony posting 49 off 34 balls and Jon Bodimeade, Max Nightingale and Jim Shaw all chipping in with 20 runs apiece.
A great game played in a great spirit and with fantastic weather. At the interval Sir Gordon Greenidge planted an oak tree, provided by Dobells Professional Tree Care in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and Over Peover Cricket Clubs 75th Anniversary.
